A week with nothing going on

Last week had something going on every night:
Tuesday I met a Swede for drinks. I had a good time speaking Swedish and discussing business ideas. Was happy to hear that he liked an idea I have. Now I need to get it started.
Wednesday was spent cleaning the apartment to make it ready for the landlord to list it. Still have to find something to move to next month.
Thursday was vodka tasting with Swedish Chamber of Commerce at Racquet Club of Philadelphia. I am normally not a vodka drinker, but trying different types of liquor made for an interesting and fun night.
Friday I looked at a house to rent on Poplar. The house would have been a good investment since it was well priced and had a garage and good layout. But it would have been too much that needed fixing to make it worthwhile for us.
On Sunday (Saturday was very relaxed and non-eventful), a trip to Target and Wegmans in Collegeville. We mostly finalized our registry at Target, though we still need a car seat. Otherwise, we are pretty much done. Listed some onesies and bottles yesterday, bring on parenthood, we are well equipped!

Travel Bug...

...Yes, I got the bug. So many places to visit, so little time and money. Trans-Siberian Railway is number one on the list, where it is been for the past ten years. Japan, South Africa, Banff and Patagonia round-up the top five.
Even though we just got back from trips to Sweden and Mexico in January, I'm itching to hit the road again. A road trip to Pittsburgh would be more than enough to scratch the itch. Put that in context with my post from yesterday about moving and all you hobby-psychologists out there can analyze me.

The Wife found the photos from the 20 week ultrasound, maybe she is not the worst-mother-of-the-year after all. And she made me delicious lunch, the Wife rules!

Fergie's

Off to meet an old Swede at Fergie's. Not very often I speak Swedish for a whole evening and neither does he. The more we drink, the more swenglish we use. He has almost live longer in the States than Sweden. I don't want to that. Even though I always left Stockholm and Sweden as soon as I could, staying in the US and especially Philly for a long period is not appealing to me.

Short, rambling post today. Maybe better tomorrow.

Happy Presidents Day

The Wife is off today, spending the day shopping and hanging with her mother in Jersey. I would prefer to hang in Jersey, rather than being at work.

Had a good weekend. Saturday was wedding day with A+G doing it, getting married that is. Windy and chilly day, but fun. I enjoyed the beers and fell/bounced off the bed at home, to the amusement of the Wife. Enjoyed the attention and comments the belly got, people seemed genuinely excited. I am not a person that would comment on other people's pregnancy bellies, but maybe I should.

Sunday was slow. Had brunch at Bridgids followed by watching three NHL games. Felt better than expected.

Slow

Afternoon lull, luckily I can follow the minute-by-minute reporting of Liverpool v Sparta Prague in Europa League.
Will have more to report after weekend, Saturday is the A+G wedding!

Interview

Interviewed yesterday, found out early during the meeting that I wasn't qualified for the position, wished the company had posted a better job description. The job search continues, but the optimist in me still thinks 2011 will be a good year professionally.

The belly is getting bigger by each day. Hopefully, we should start feeling some kicks soon. I want kicks, that would make the whole pregnancy feel more real to me. It is still abstract to me, shopping for strollers and looking for day care doesn't change that. Kicking will.

Sunday Round-Up

Sunday was fairly productive. First, went to a clothing store to look for maternity jeans for the Wife, not very exciting but I am trying to be supportive and we had other errands to take care of. Ikea was the next stop to look at cribs. They mostly look the same, which one to pick? We didn't buy anything, we are waiting until after our move to get the furniture we will need. Visits to a crowded Target and ShopRite ended the shopping for the weekend.
Spent the afternoon with G, she helped me prepare for a job interview.

Still need to decide on a car seat.

Progress

We spent three hours at Buy Buy Baby yesterday. Got a registry started and picked out a stroller. Think we did a good job, even though we didn't decided on a car seat. One thing is for sure, baby stuff are expensive. It was actually pretty fun registering for stuff we had no clue we needed. Head support for the stroller? We go one of those. Cooler attachment for the stroller? It's on the registry.
Still, list is far from complete. We still need to pick a car seat.

Friday Afternoon

Quiet evening with packing and cleaning planned. But first, we are going to look at a house to rent in zip 19147. I'd prefer to stay in 19130, but it makes sense to move. Not easy to find a decent place at a good price in south Philly, though.

Early morning on Saturday, we are going to beautiful Cherry Hill in New Jersey to see what Buy Buy Baby has to offer and to start a registry. We are pretty clueless what we should put on the registry. Expect us to add a lot of crap but omitting the important stuff, like a crib.

20+ weeks

On Wednesday we had our 20 week ultrasound. The Wife was nervous, I was nervous because she was. Luckily, the ultrasound went well. Sam (that is what he/she is called at the moment), has a good heart beat, 138 bpm, and is not missing any vital organs. So far, everything is going to plan, due date is still at the end of June. That night we went out for pho with two couples. We showed the photos that were taken at the ultrasound. The lasses were excited, the lads not so much. The pho was great, the beer not so much.

Monday - tired

Weekend was good. Saturday brought rain and miserable weather. Didn't stop us from doing much needed grocery shopping. Re-stocked pantry and a freezer full of lunches, feels good not having to buy lunch everyday. Saturday night the Wife and I went to Flyers v Stars. Decent game but a good result, Flyers 3-1 winners. Not buying two $8 beers each time is nice. Btw, before the game, we stopped by at Jose Pistolas. The nachos are awesome!
Sunday brought Liverpool v Chelsea and Superbowl. Very happy with the Liverpool win and with Torres leaving the pitch without perfmorming well against his former club. Superbowl was hosted by a Swedish couple. Drank many beers, hence my tiredness.

Found out that a fellow Philly-Swede and his wife are having a baby. I am at that age when people are starting to re-produce. The Wife has two lady-friends that are due around the same time as we are. Guess it is a good thing they can share their thoughts/worries and whatever research they do. Maybe I should do the same with the fellow Philly-Swede.

Friday

Finally Friday is here. Hasn't been a long week, but I'm looking forward to a weekend with the Flyers on Saturday night and Liverpool v Chelsea and Superbowl on Sunday.
Do have to pack and getting rid of crap before upcoming move later this spring.
Want to run tomorrow morning, but the forecast calls for freezing rain and/or snow. Maybe I'll just go the gym instead.

Sunny today!

Hope the weather keeps improving - I am tired of the snow. Don't get me wrong, I am from Sweden and I like a nice cold winter with lots of snow. Problem is that Philadelphia is not a city that knows how to deal with the white mess. There are still unploughed streets and bus detours in my 'hood, even though the last snowstorm was more than a week ago...

Beginning of a new chapter

A chapter that started in late September. The wife got pregnant, due in June. I am clueless what to do, but I'm trying my best to listen and being supportive. Know we'll do a good job as we are a good team. Scary nonetheless.
Writing this blog is also a new chapter. This is my first ever blog and I normally don't write, hope you'll enjoy it.
